Fundraising in memory of Mrs Saira Ahmed
My Story
“When a person passes away, their worldly acts come to an end, but three acts; recurring charity (Sadaqa Jariya), knowledge (by which others) benefit or a pious child who prays for them will bear continuous reward (for the deceased).” Sahih Muslim
This fundraising campaign is on behalf of Mrs Saira Ahmed as sadaqa jariya, by her family. Mrs Saira Ahmed has endured a tough and challenging life which has led to her now being disabled after multiple strokes. She is now unable to look after herself and relies on the care provided by her loved ones to do the basic necessities. Family and friends always remember her generous and kind nature with her beautiful smile. The funds raised through this campaign will go towards Noor Ul Islam Mosque's "Project Rebuild" which is to raise the remaining £2.5 million+ required to complete the project. http://www.noorulislam.org.uk/project-updates.
Noor Ul Islam was founded in 1990 (Leyton, East London) and has various services such as a Mosque, Madrassa, Pre School, Primary School and other services for the benefit of the local and wider community.
A donor recognition display called the “Kohi-Noor Wall” will exhibit the names of donors who contribute significantly towards Project Rebuild at the front entrance of the new Mosque. There are 3 categories of donations; £5,000 (large plaque), £1,800 (medium plaque) and £900 (small plaque). The target is to raise at least £900 so that Mrs Saira Ahmed’s name will be displayed on the Kohi-Noor Wall.
The vision for Project Rebuild mirrors the Prophetic model of the Mosque being the centre of the community. All the needs of the community were taken care of by the Mosque: worship, education, interfaith and social services. For Muhammad (PBUH), the role of the Mosque was to develop the best of society.
Inspired by the Prophet’s (pbuh) mosque, Noor Ul Islam will be a social hub providing many community services under one roof. In line with the Prophetic ideal, it will be inclusive of women, with a dedicated mezzanine floor overlooking the main prayer hall as well as a mother and baby room and gym. It will be a learning centre offering a library, a pre-school and classes to be used by all ages. It will be a community meeting place with a coffee shop and halls to hire for meetings, social gatherings and recreational activities.
